Saint Louis Home Termite Inspections

 

A Wood Destroying Organism inspection; often called a termite inspection, is an inspection performed by a qualified and experienced WDO inspector typically licensed and employed by a pest control company.

While your general Home Inspector will notify you of any termites or other wood destroying organisms he may come across;or any environments that are particularly conducive to these organisms, he is not a specialist.

It is recommended by Absolute Home Inspection Services that a 3rd party pest control specialist be brought in to perform an official WDO inspection. A WDO inspection is a thorough inspection specific to signs of wood destroying pests including; termites, carpenter ants, carpenter bees, wood destroying beetles, and more.

A specialized WDO inspection will include a standardized report that is sometimes required by your loan provider or insurance company. The report will determine if there is visible evidence of a past or present wood destroying insect infestation or if there is activity of wood destroying insects and recommend treatment for active infestations.

In most cases the buyer of the property is responsible for arranging the termite report, paying for the report, and choosing the inspecting company. Should treatment be needed it is generally the responsibility of the owner to arrange and pay for treatment. Most pest control companies that do inspections will give a free estimate if treatment is needed.
